Abegail's 2nd Grade Teacher is.....

Mrs. Agee. (a-jee) We met her last night at the open house and she could not have been more friendly or personable. Unfortunately Abegail's friend, Tori is in a different class. I think I was more nervous than she was. I really wanted her in the same class because her Mom and I have just become good friends, but we will still be friends, get together, play soccer together etc. (the kids will play soccer, not the moms) Mrs. Agee was a first grade teacher last year and just moved up to 2nd grade. She has a one year old son, Jackson who we even got to meet. A cutey pie for sure with beautiful curly hair. (Mrs. Agee just happens to be married to an African American, she gets the hair thing). We also had to make a trip down the far hall to visit room 48 and Mr. Suzuki. Funny thing, we found most of Abegail's class from last year making the same visit. He even had their class picture up. We'll miss you Mr. Suzuki, but feels like we've been left in good hands.

Happy Birthday Mackie!
Cousin Mackie turned 7 Sunday, guess what his family got him? Roller blades! Sound familiar?
Quotes from Abegail:
A: Mommy, how old will I be when you are a thousand?
M: 973
A: How about when you are 2,000?
M: ummm, 1,973.
A: When you are 3,000 years old?
M: 2,973
A: How old will I be when you are 4,000 years old?
M; 3,973
A: 5,000?
M: Oh, I don't think I'll live to 5,000, I think I'll only make it to 4,000.

Sports, Sports, Sports

Abegail participated in a basketball shooting clinic all last week. Tori's (see above, best friend from first grade) father put the whole thing together and did a fabulous job. The kids loved it. Coach Jamie had prizes and tons of fun games. Last night was family night and even the parents got in on the action.
Abegail practices her shooting
Tips from Coach James
Abegail likes to kick up her heel when she shoots!
So here's the plan, you ask your Mom if I can sleep over and I'll ask my Mom and one of them will say yes! And then....

Daddy wins the parent shooting tournament, Coach Jamie has a great prize for him...$70 towards dinner at Timberlodge Steakhouse!
Can you believe Daddy won??
(Daddy note: ahem...yes!?)

Soccer Starts
The first of our two soccer leagues started today. (Gee, I don't know why I'm so tired) Annie and Emmanuel are on the same team in this league! Annie had a fabulous time. Emmanuel was not at all impressed since it was just practice and drills and he couldn't run past other kids and score goals. But the first game is in just two weeks.

Hadley is Here:

My friend, Tracey Sievertson Locke (St. Petersburg, FL), gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday. Hadley Grace Locke arrived at 12:30, 8 lbs 13 oz and 20.5 inches long with lots of sandy blond hair. All is well with Mommy, Daddy, and superstar big brother Cole.

Haley Time

One of our favorite friends, Haley, is moving to California on Tuesday. We've been trying to spend lots of time with her. She is a great friend to Annie and Abegail but it is Emmanuel who I think is most heartbroken. He adores Haley and makes sure she knows it. Haley is so kind and patient with him. Yesterday we went to a park in Bloomington and had a blast.

School Time

Annie had her open house at preschool yesterday. She met her teacher and saw her classroom. She is very excited to go to school like the big kids. Plus she's going with our neighbor and Emmanuel's other favorite friend, Jane. She came home and said, "Mommy, I'm a big kid now, I'm going to school." Mommy on the other hand is trying to keep it all straight, three kids, four schools (E-man has two) and one night with two orientations. I thought I was in shock getting Abegail ready! I'm swimming in paperwork and am sure I have missed something. I guess we'll find out soon enough!

The Missing Tooth

Yesterday Abegail, who apparently didn't want to be outdone by Emmanuel, lost a tooth. (No she was not chewing on a hammer) Unfortunately it got misplaced as Abegail so candidly told the tooth fairy. Good thing the tooth fairy can read. She came and left a dollar.

Apple Juice For Sale
The kids wanted to have a lemonade stand on Sunday. Unfortunately we had no lemonade so they improvised and had a real scheme going. E-man played the drums while several of the kids marched and yelled, Apple Juice For Sale! Tori, the kids have saved you a few more coins!

Note of Interest: The American Flagbearer who ran the 1500 did not make the Olympic finals. A huge accomplishment either way.
Happy Birthday Auntie Caroline!

E-man SEES His New Eye

E-man is very pleased with his new eye. His look when he got to see a mirror was priceless! Things are still going well, he was very swollen this morning and we were concerned the eye had closed again, but just swelling from the stitches. Now to keep him from running into things!

Mommy Runs A Race!

It's been a long time since Mommy ran a race. Today I did a 10K with my friend Carol who came to visit from Iowa. These of course are the pictures before, you don't want to see the after pictures, but I made it with Carol's help!

E-man's Surgery Successful So Far

E-man had an extremely successful eye surgery this morning to correct the ptosis in his left eye which was causing a droopy left eye lid. He was a trooper through it all, excited the whole time to have both his eyes "look the same." We have spent the day telling him not to touch his eye and rip the stitches. We are expecting that to continue for the next 10 days. The doctor says we will probably not see the full extent of the surgery for the next 30 days but already we think there is an amazing difference.

Emmanuel Loses A Tooth

Emmanuel lost his first tooth a few days ago on the bottom. He was very scared by this fact and didn't realize this is what is suppose to happen. Then we talked about the whole tooth fairy thing. She did indeed come and brought a dollar. "I have to put this in my piggy bank right now." But he does want to know why a new tooth hasn't appeared yet. We have tried to explain it will take a while.

Emmanuel is having his long awaited eye surgery on Friday. Usually when I tell him he is going to the doctor his first reaction is, "Am I going to get a shot?" This time when I told him they were going to make both his eyes look alike he simply said, "ok." I said are you nervous? "No." I said are you excited to see better. "Yes, that will be good."

NOTE FROM SCOTT: One small detail omitted above: Emmanuel lost his tooth because - get this - he was chewing on a hammer!!
